Wellington Barn Take a New Path to Offer a Much Needed Service in Wiltshire

When you think of hiring a venue for an event, your head immediately goes to happy occasions like birthdays or weddings. For these celebrations, big venues with bars and catering facilities make perfect sense everyone can get together in the same place and enjoy themselves over the course of the day or evening. But there is often one celebration that is left out of that list. The last celebration everyone must have at some time or another a funeral.

Traditionally, funerals are only held in one of two places a church or a crematorium. While there is nothing inherently wrong with these venues, for some people a church is too religious, and frankly some people just don't enjoy the thought of a crematorium. However there is now a third option available. As a new service, Wellington Barn are now offering a funeral package, to allow families to experience an alternative to a church or crematorium funeral. It is often expressed in a will that someone would like an alternative to a church or a crematorium funeral, but in many places, there is no such alternative. However at Wellington Barn you can hire the entire venue to hold your funeral service and wake in complete privacy. The ceremony rooms are large enough to accommodate a coffin, and guests can easily stay on to celebrate the deceased's life at the wake. This is a new and unique service from Wellington Barn, and one that they hope will help a lot of people feel at ease about their end of life arrangements. Funeral Director Jennifer from E.Wootten & Son based in Calne and Chippenham, commented 'It is a nice idea that families now have an additional choice of venue in addition to traditional Churches and Crematoriums and we would support our families if this was their choice of venue. We wish Wellington Barn every success supporting our community'

Keri Maundrell, Director of Wellington Barn said "with the current limited choice, I feel as a businesses it is important to offer this service to the local community, as unlike others we have the space to do so. The barn is so tranquil, it lends itself to this environment well and gives us the flexibility to tailor make services and wakes. We are working closely with other professionals within the industry to spread the news that finally there is a third option available".

Using a private venue such as Wellington Barn for a loved one's funeral also provides a better alternative to a separate wake. Many people struggle to find a venue to hold a wake so end up being steered towards pubs with little parking options or hotels crammed with other patrons, which leaves little room for mourning and celebrating a loved one's life undisturbed. Wellington Barn offer a private, secluded space for families to hold a funeral and wake, without any of the issues separate venues experience. The venue is exclusive for the entire day, food and drink can be served, and there is enough room that anyone can take a quiet moment to themselves and reflect in the stunning scenery that surrounds the barn.

If you would like to know more about the end of life options at Wellington Barn, they are hosting an End of the Road open event on the 22nd of March between 2pm and 7pm that is free to attend. You will be able to tour the venue, speak to celebrants and funeral directors and quiz the venue staff about the options available to you. Tea and Sympathy will also be providing refreshments on the day. Please get in touch with Wellington Barn on 01249 400014 or email charlotte@wellingtonbarn.co.uk for more information.
